DRONE DOUBLES FLIGHT TIME WITH HYDROGEN |
GO HYDROGEN POWERED DRONES
Intelligent Energy yesterday unveiled a prototype hydrogen fuel cell for drones, which aims to "revolutionise" drone delivery by doubling flight duration and shortening refueling times.
According to the company, the technology - which will be demonstrated for the first time at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January - addresses two of the biggest problems for drone manufacturers, flight time and refuel time.
A conventional drone can fly for an average of 20 minutes before being forced to land and recharge - a process which can take up to two hours. Intelligent Energy's solution combines a battery with an ultra-lightweight hydrogen fuel cell stack to make a zero-emission hybrid drone, which more than doubles the average flying time and can be refueled in a matter of minutes.
