GEESE OVERHEAD

The first time I noticed this was in the summer of 1988.

It was the summer that "stuff was happening."  The stuff that undid my life as it was. Working for AT&T in a computer sales job, luxury apartment, new Volvo, boat on a lake.

I was somewhat raddled at the time.



I was sitting out on my boat in the middle of Lakeville lake (MI).

I noticed 2 geese approaching from the south end of the lake.  They were going east, but they made a sharp turn north, coming at me. They proceeded to approach my boat, I thought "what are chances of them coming right over my boat?"  There they came.  Decreasing height to about 15 ft.  They flew right over my head.

Took off up and away turning back on their original course.

This incident since has stuck in my mind.  You know how over the course of your life there were things that happened that just seemed a bit odd?

Well, there have been similar time occurrences from time to time, but this morning was interesting.

I was walking on to the IUPUI campus.  Two geese were squawking as they approached me. Lowering there height to about 15 feet and flew right over my head.

Later, going from IUPUI to the public library I was walking down St. Clair st.  Had to detour to 9th street.

I started hearing geese squawking. looked around and there they were flying up St. Clair street about 15 ft off the ground.  I thought "they are not FLYING AT ME." Then they took a hard left turn and flew in front of me on 9th street.  Then it sounded like they were flying back toward IUPUI and circling a building.

They then came back over 9th street right over my head again.  Flying low.

The thing that I think is odd is their lowering of their height when they are NOT in a landing pattern.

Stands out in my mind.
